Serves as Faculty and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) for Parkland College's Veterinary Technology Program. Coordinates acquisition, disposition, care, and use of live animals for the Veterinary Technology Program.

Teaching Functions:
Provide classroom instruction in accordance with the stated philosophy, objectives, and established course outlines of the college and conduct program evaluation.
Perform professional clinical duties in accordance with established policies and procedures of the clinical faculty, the Health Professionals Department, Parkland College, and Illinois state law.
Maintain all professional credentials required to teach in area of discipline; meet essential qualifications to teach lecture and lab in the discipline.
DVM Functions:
Committee member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use committee; prepare and review SOPs, procedures and protocols specific to the Animal Welfare Act.
Prepare and maintain all USDA paperwork for acquisition and disposition of all live animals used for the program.
Coordinate care and use of live animals.
Minimum Requirements
DVM or VDM degree from AVMA accredited program and licensed as a veterinarian in Illinois, or eligible for licensure within six (6) months of employment.
3 years private practice experience and 3 yrs experience working with live animals.
Successfully complete a criminal background check with fingerprinting.

Gateway Pet Guardians (GPG) is a nonprofit animal welfare organization looking for a DVM to join our lifesaving team!You will be scheduled for 32 hours per week on the following schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesdays and Fridays 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Currently the clinic staffs 4 FT DVM’s, 2 PT DVM’s plus a skilled support staff including CVT’s.
The FT DVM schedules averages 3 shifts/week with a flexible schedule. The hospital operates on a 24/7 basis. The flex scheduling allows for multiple days per week off to enjoy life outside of work, allowing for an exceptional work/life balance.
The practice is well-equipped w/digital radiology, in-house blood analyzers, ultrasound, Cardell blood pressure, EKG monitoring etc… and is willing to add equipment and services as needed.
Salary starts with a base of $115,000 & a sizable monthly production (an industry leading 32%).
