Wes Hornback, BS, MS

Wes Hornback accepted the position as Purina Animal Nutrition’s Beef Cattle Specialist for the Great Lakes Region in August of 2016 after serving as Cattle Consultant for multiple companies in Western Illinois from 2012 – 2016. During this time, Wes provided support to cattle producers in nutrition and management covering 14 counties in Western Illinois, 4 counties in Northeast Missouri and Southeast Iowa.

Wes received a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science in 2009 from University of Illinois.  He continued studies at U of I, studying for a Master’s degree in Ruminant Nutrition, finishing in 2012.

Wes is originally from Ridge Farm, IL where he grew up on a small grain and livestock farm. Wes spent a good deal of his younger days in the show ring at many of the local county fairs as well as state and national level showing Polled Hereford cattle and Hampshire hogs. Wes currently lives outside of Monticello, IL with his wife Sara.
